After being closed for the last two summers due to ongoing repairs, Woodbine Park’s Donald D. Summerville Outdoor Olympic Pool is finally slated to reopen this June.
Known for its panoramic views of the beach and Lake Ontario, the popular destination’s closure was a bummer for local residents, who would flock to the pool during hot summer days.
Featuring a 50-metre Olympic sized pool complete with a 25-metre training pool and separate diving pool, the complex was closed to the public in 2022, thanks to extensive damage to its liners from winter weather.
Since then, the facility has undergone over $3.5 million in repairs, which should extend its life for another 20 years according to the city.
New pool liners were added in all three pools, and the deck was fully replaced.
The City of Toronto states the pool is on track to reopen for the 2024 season, with all pools opening on June 22 starting with a partial schedule, before fully opening on the 28 unless stated otherwise.
While the Olympic pool’s exact opening date is yet to be confirmed, it sounds like you can expect it sooner than later!
