A new ranking of the World Best Burger Places just dropped – and the only Canadian destination that made the cut is a short road trip away from Toronto.
Local butcher shop Fat Rabbit in St. Catharines claimed the coveted number 38 spot out of 101, and gives us yet another reason to trek to the heart of the Niagara region. Home to locally sourced, pasture-raised beef and a team that treats meat like an art form, Fat Rabbit has created a carnivore’s oasis on the corner of King Street.

The restaurant is largely focused around hyper-local, ethically raised meats that will change your standard for comfort food. The kitchen focuses on custom butchery, dry-aging their beef to perfection before throwing it onto the grill. While the entire menu is stellar, it’s their standalone burger that gained them a spot on the list.
The now world-renowned burger features a premium patty topped with Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and a slather of dijonnaise.

Besides the burger, their menu offers small plates such as beef tartare tartine, crispy Humboldt squid, and burrata, a variety of local cheeses and charcuterie meats, and larger plates including glazed lamb ribs, smoked duck breast, and spring rabbit.
If you’d like to try any of the other burgers that made this year’s list, you’ll have to grab your passport; the top two burgers are located in London, followed by Sydney in third, Hong Kong in fourth, and Copenhagen in fifth place.
