There’s nothing like visiting Ontario’s cottage country during the summer months, and now, a low-cost bus service is making it easier to get to than ever before.
As of June 8, FlixBus has launched a brand new route connecting Toronto with several communities across Muskoka and northeastern Ontario. Offering a budget-friendly option for students, cottagers, and weekend explorers alike, the service runs five days a week through September 13.
The Route
The bus departs from Toronto’s Union Station Bus Terminal at 9:30 a.m., followed by Pearson Airport at 10:00 a.m. before heading north. Passengers can hop off at major summer hubs including Barrie and Orillia before the route heads deep into the scenic Muskoka region with stops in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and Huntsville.
From there, the line continues into northeastern Ontario, stopping at the Crystal Cave in South River before wrapping up its journey in North Bay at 2:45 p.m. If you are looking to explore the rugged coast of Georgian Bay instead, FlixBus has also added a brand new seasonal stop at the Parry Sound Municipal Airport along its existing Toronto-to-Sudbury line.
For those returning, the bus leaves North Bay at 4 p.m., arriving at Pearson at 8:35 p.m., followed by Union Station at 9:10 p.m.
The Cost
One-way tickets for the new Toronto-Muskoka-North Bay corridor start as low as $22, letting you skip the pain of high gas prices and car rentals. The service operates daily from Thursday through Monday, making it incredibly easy to map out a quick weekend getaway or a longer wilderness itinerary.
