The Labour Day long weekend is almost over, but not without a final beloved citywide tradition for the good boys and girls!
With the majority of Toronto’s municipal outdoor pools closing for the season today, Sunday August 31, pet owners aged 18 and older can bring their pups for a free dog-only swim before the pools are drained.
From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., dogs can enjoy a swim at the following Toronto pools:
-
Greenwood Park
-
High Park
-
Lambton – Kingsway Park
-
Ledbury Park
-
Mitchell Field Community Centre
-
Monarch Park
-
Northwood Community Centre
-
Rotary Peace Park
-
Stan Wadlow Park (Kiwanis Outdoor Pool)
-
Stanley Park South
For those who can’t make it, there will also be an additional doggy swim date on Sunday, September 21, to swim at the city’s outdoor pools with extended closing dates next month. These include:
-
Goulding Community Recreation Centre
-
Heron Park Community Centre
-
McGregor Park Community Centre
-
Riverdale Park East
Keep in mind that the doggy swims are for dogs only, and their human owners will not be allowed in the water. Residents are welcome to bring up to two dogs each, and need to bring rabies vaccination with them. Advanced registration is not required.
Visitors are also encouraged to make pet donations to Toronto Animal Services, bringing items like peanut butter, freeze-dried treats, and dog toys. These will be accepted and collected at the participating pools.
