One of Ontario’s most unique winter experiences is coming back this season!
Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery, best known for its famous cranberry plunge in the fall, is gearing up to launch its magical ice skating trail for the winter. In just a few days, visitors will have the chance to glide across a frozen bed of cranberries and enjoy an illuminated night skate under the stars.

Located just two hours north of Toronto, the Johnston family has been growing and harvesting cranberries on the farm since 1950. During the winter months, the cranberry marsh freezes over, lending way to a one-of-a-kind 1.2 km ice skating trail.
Thanks to the colder weather of late, the ice trail will be opening this weekend as of December 12, 2025. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
Access to the skating trail is priced at $15 for adults, $12 for children under 12 on weekdays, and $19 for adults and $15 for children on weekends and holidays. Skates are available for rent on-site at the winery, though it is important to note that helmets are not provided, so visitors must bring their own if required.

Later this month, the farm’s dazzling weekly Light of the Night experience is planned to return on December 27. Held every Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., over 400 flickering tiki torches are lit along the skating trail, transforming it into a truly unforgettable, romantic, and breathtaking skating experience. Passes for Light the Night are $28 per person and should be booked online in advance to secure your spot.
Additionally, Muskoka Lakes is home to over 10 km of groomed snowshoe trails, allowing you to explore the winter terrain on foot instead.

After your skate, you can cozy up by a fire pit located right along the trail, or retreat to the McArthur House Café for some comfort and warmth. The café offers delicious options, including mulled wine and hot chocolate, perfect for warming up after an evening on the ice.
If you’re interested in learning more about the farm, they also offer a Bog to Bottle Tour where you’ll get to sample various wines. For a more decadent treat, the Cheese Fondue & Wine experience allows you to enjoy a rich cheese fondue paired with a wine flight or a glass of wine on the patio, where you can cozy up by fire tables.
This destination is open year-round daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is closed only on December 25 and 26. Booking in advance is highly recommended for all activities to secure your spot and avoid disappointment, as capacity is limited.
