Looking for a unique outdoor adventure in Toronto this summer? Glow-in-the-dark kayaking is back at Sunnyside Beach, offering one of the most unforgettable waterfront experiences in the city.
Illuminated Escapes is offering guests to come out and explore the city’s shoreline in Toronto’s first transparent, Bluetooth-equipped kayaks, which are illuminated by colourful LED lights.
Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a beginner, this immersive nighttime activity is fun for everyone, blending fitness, fun, and Instagram-worthy views.
Launching from Sunnyside Park, you can either paddle west towards the Humber Bay Arch Bridge and explore the Humber River, or head east along the break wall to take in Toronto’s scenic skyline views.
Your kayak is equipped with a personal Bluetooth speaker, so you can play your favourite artists for the duration of your adventure. You’ll also be given a remote to change the colour of the lights in your kayak as you wish.
Not a strong swimmer? Don’t worry, each paddler is also given a life jacket and safety kit in the off chance there is an emergency.
Each sunset paddle session has a 100 minute duration, giving you plenty of time to venture off. Single kayaks start at $83 per 100 minute session, or you and a friend can rent a tandem kayak with two seats for $142 and up for a 100 minute session.
Illuminated Escapes also offers water bikes and stand-up paddleboard rentals, if you’d like to put your balance to the test! These are all equipped with Bluetooth speakers and LED lights, which are magical to see floating on the water once the sun sets.
The company will be hosting numerous events throughout the summer, including Paddle with Pride and a Canada Day Firework Paddle where you’ll be able to see the Toronto skyline light up from your kayak in the water. Be sure to book soon, as these will go fast!
