This July 1st, Harbourfront Centre is hosting an epic waterfront gathering for the whole community. Step onto the boardwalk and transition from public art installations to a literal floating futsal pitch.
With an incredible lineup of live music, local food vendors, and the brand-new Ontario Science Centre location right on campus, the waterfront has created a packed schedule of festivities to ring in Canada Day.
And the best part? You can catch it all for free.
Sports fans can head over to the GE Appliances Canada Soccer House to catch high-stakes World Cup action, or lace up their sneakers to try out the community soccer pitch.
Plus, don’t miss the lineup of live musical performances spanning everything from Afro-pop to soulful folk; dive into interactive art workshops; and keep an eye out for quirky circus acts wandering the campus (yes, including a referee on stilts).
At exactly 10:45pm, a spectacular, dazzling fireworks display will light up Toronto’s inner harbour, reflecting over the open water for a breathtaking 15 minutes.
Because the waterfront areas get incredibly popular, you’ll want to arrive early to claim a prime viewing spot. For the best vantage points, hunt for a patch of grass at HTO Park just to the west, or secure a bench at Harbourfront Square Park to the east. Traffic delays are guaranteed and parking is tight, so your best bet is to ditch the car entirely and take the TTC, walk, or cycle to the water.
