Toronto’s most bark-tacular Halloween costume contest is back, and more adorable than ever.
Howl’oween at The Bentway returns on October 25 for an afternoon of wagging tails and seasonal fun, complete with prizes, music, local vendors, and cozy fall treats.
Taking place under the Gardiner Expressway, this annual event will transform The Bentway Skate Trail into a fashionable runway for dogs and their humans to strut their stuff in spooky, silly, and downright adorable costumes.
Hosted by Toronto’s drag princess Ella Mayo, this year’s judging panel includes some of the city’s most famous furry faces, like The Toronto Corgi Duo and Zuko the Samoyed, who will help crown winners in categories such as Best DIY Costume, Best Family Costume, and the coveted Judges’ Picks.
The fun kicks off at 12 p.m., followed by opening remarks and a Costume Contest Pack Walk at 1 p.m. While the judges deliberate, visitors can sip warm drinks, grab a treat, or browse unique pet products before the Prize Ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
The celebration will then wrap up with a “Yappy Hour” from 3 to 4 p.m., where neighbourhood pups and their people get to mingle and unwind.
Howl’oween at The Bentway is open to everyone, whether you’re entering the contest, bringing your furry friend to socialize, or just coming to enjoy the cutest Halloween celebration in the city. The event runs rain or shine, and all dogs must remain leashed and comfortable around crowds.
Families are encouraged to pre-register their pups to secure a spot in the contest. Youth are welcome to participate, though an adult (19+) must accompany contestants to be eligible for prizes.
Tickets to the event will run on a Pay What You Choose model, with the options being $5, $10, $15, and $20. Visit their website here for more details.
We can’t wait to see this year’s line-up of creative pup costumes!
