If you were hoping to secure a candlelit table next to a display of Pax wardrobes this February, you might need to pivot your plans.
For years, IKEA has served as the ultimate “if you know, you know” date night spot for those on a budget in Toronto. Their legendary Valentine’s Day dinners, complete with three courses and those famous meatballs, were known to sell out within just a few hours! But for 2026, the furniture retail giant is asking fans to bring the romance home instead.
IKEA has officially confirmed it will not be hosting its signature in-restaurant Valentine’s Day event this year. While the 2025 edition saw couples snatching up tables for the affordable $19.99 experience, the brand is shifting its focus toward DIY intimacy.
In a statement shared on their website, the company noted, “While we’ve loved celebrating with our guests in previous years, we won’t be hosting the event this year.”
“We’re always looking for new ways to create memorable experiences, and we have some exciting plans coming soon that we can’t wait to share.”
The decision follows a massive menu overhaul late last year, which saw the arrival of “food balls” ranging from plant-ball nachos to chicken-ball tikka masala.
While we’ll certainly miss the quirky charm of a warehouse date night, there is one major perk: this year, we’ve rounded up some other great Valentine’s Day ideas to celebrate in Toronto here!
