With the holidays fast-approaching, there is no shortage of holiday cheer and Christmas spirit to go around.
However, one long-running event in the city is doing things a little differently, celebrating the darker side of the holidays.
The Krampus Ball, a highly-anticipated annual alternative Christmas costume party, returns to Toronto for its eleventh year next month on December 9, 2023.
In honour of Krampus, the anthropomorphic mythical demon said to punish misbehaving children during the Advent season, the event was created as an outlet for alternative expression to “encourage wonder and inspire magic.”
Party-goers can dress up in their best festive attire, from demon-wear as an homage to Krampus himself, or other holiday-inspired outfits.
In addition to the spectacle of frightful and beautiful costumes, the evening will include music by electro duo Squid Lid, circus aerial, and burlesque performances.
Ticket prices range from $39 – $55 depending if you purchase in advance online.
