Get your Lactaid ready, Toronto; the city’s ultimate carb-and-cheese festival is officially making a comeback this weekend.
If your ideal Saturday involves eating your weight in melted cheddar, you’ll want to clear your schedule because the Lakeshore Grilled Cheese Challenge is returning to Etobicoke.

Proudly holding the title of Ontario’s largest celebration of grilled cheese sandwiches, this one-day street party hosted by the Lakeshore Village BIA presented by Black Diamond is known to draw over 40,000 cheese-obsessed foodies from across the GTA.
Spanning Lake Shore Blvd West from Islington Ave to Second St, the event featured a day of live music, local vendors to shop from, beer gardens, and enough family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained between snack breaks.
The highlight of the day however is The Challenger Zone, a culinary battleground where local chefs and amateur foodies go head-to-head to answer the ultimate question: Who actually makes the best grilled cheese?

You can expect some seriously wild, gourmet takes on the classic comfort food. The best part? You get to play food critic. Visitors can taste-test the creations, cheer on the cooks, and cast a vote for their absolute favourites to help crown the top three best sandwiches of the year.
Winners will walk away with major sponsor prizes, with the big reveal happening at 5 p.m. over in the Great Lakes Brewery Garden, which doubles as the perfect spot to pair your cheese with a cold pint.
