1. Nobu
One of the city’s most highly anticipated restaurants has finally opened after years of waiting. Nobu Toronto, founded in 1994 by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, is known for its elevated Japanese fare and sultry ambiance, that of which attracts the likes of celebrity guests in its other locations around the world. Stop by for their signature dishes like the black cod miso and spicy tuna crispy rice.

2. Mott 32
International restaurant chain Mott 32 has just opened up in Toronto, taking over where Momofuku used to be within the Shangri-La Hotel. Elevated Chinese cuisine from various regions is served in this multi-level, luxurious space, like dim sum staples, Kobe beef, and their famous 42-day apple-wood-roasted Peking duck.

3. LSL
North York is now home to an ultra-luxurious tasting restaurant by world-famous chefs Didier Leroy, Christian Le Squer and Masaki Saito. Fusing Japanese and French cuisine, this meal is sure to cost you a pretty penny, but will be unlike anything you’ve had before in the area. With only nine seats in the entire restaurant, the experience is priced at $680 per person, with an additional $300 for a wine pairing.

4. Cafe Renée
If you have yet to see Cafe Renée’s Raviolies Du Dauphiné all over your social media feeds, colour us impressed. Portland’s aesthetic new restaurant for French/Italian dishes lives up to the hype, with a selection of oysters, pastas, French dip, steak frites, and more. Stop by on a weekend for a decadent brunch!

5. MSSM Ossington
Masaki Saito’s Edomae-style sushi house is a lot more affordable than his other destinations in the city, where you can get a 14-course omakase meal for just $98 (compared to the LSL tasting menu for a cool $680 mentioned above). The menu at MSSM Ossington constantly changes with seasonal ingredients, but you’ll always find staples like hand rolls, nigiri, and soups.

6. Takja BBQ House
Korean BBQ is what you’ll find at newly-opened Takja BBQ House on College St, where your meat of choice is prepared right in front of you on a grill built right into your table. Choose from pork, beef, seafood, and veggies, all of which is served with a refreshing scallion salad, lettuce ssam, pickles and condiments. They’ve also got a seafood tower, oysters, Korean charcuterie, noodles, and soups to take your meal to the next level.

7. Ricky + Olivia
What started as pop-ups around the city has now transformed into couple Ricky Casipe and Olivia Simpson’s trendy new restaurant and bottle shop Ricky + Olivia on Queen East. Serving up playful reinterpretations of comfort food, you’ll find tasty apps like Adobo’d Cheese Curds and their elevated spin on Kraft Lunchables, to steak tartare and burrata.
