Toronto’s newest free outdoor art destination on the waterfront is officially expanding, giving locals even more reasons to explore the city’s newest island park.
Starting July 25, the Lassonde Art Trail (LAT) will open its highly anticipated second phase, LAT West, bringing with it a number of new striking public sculptures.

Situated in the brand-new Biidaasige Park on Ookwemin Minising in the Port Lands, the 4-kilometre trail features an open-air museum experience where art, nature, water, and skyline views seamlessly meet. Following the launch of the trail’s eastern section earlier this summer, LAT West completes the full network of paths through the park.
Located west of the Cherry Street bridge, this new section showcases impressive large-scale installations by acclaimed Canadian and international artists, including Hank Willis Thomas, Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka, Lisa Hirmer, Virginia Overton, and Ryan Gander.

To celebrate the official opening, a special launch weekend will take place on July 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors of all ages can drop in for hands-on, community art-making experiences, explore the newly installed sculptures, and take in the transformed waterfront landscape. No tickets or registration are required.
The entire Lassonde Art Trail is completely free and open year-round, making it easy to visit by foot, bike, or the brand-new East-West Water Shuttle.
You can check out LAT West starting July 25 in Biidaasige Park at 39 Commissioners St.
