We might be just a few weeks away from September, but summer doesn’t officially end for another month!
Before the fall rolls around, if you’re looking for a final end-of-summer adventure, St. Marys Quarry just might be the perfect road trip destination.
Located roughly a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto, the former limestone quarry has been a beloved swimming hole for decades. Closed in 1920, it was reopened in the mid-1940s and converted into a public swimming area.
Known as the largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool in Canada, the quarry offers both relaxation and thrilling activities, so there’s something for everyone!
Visitors can swim in the crystal-clear water, lounge on the floating dock, or zip down the slide for a thrill. Adventure seekers won’t want to miss the 25-foot water trampoline or the exhilarating cliff-jumping spots, available when water levels allow.
Although the quarry doesn’t have a sandy beach, there’s plenty of grassy space to spread out a towel, enjoy a picnic, or take a break in the shade. The onsite Canteen is also available for snacks and drinks, so you can fuel up between swims.
For even more fun, the Super Splash Waterpark is back this summer with a giant inflatable playground floating right on the water. With towering obstacles like the 14-foot Ice Tower and the 12-foot Action Tower slide, it’s a must-try for kids and adults who love an extra challenge.
Admission to Super Splash is an additional $28 per person for a 2-hour pass, on top of regular quarry entry. You can also save by visiting the water park after 5 p.m., where regular entry is just $20.
Tickets are required for all visitors and can be purchased online in advance. Entry to St. Marys Quarry costs $7.50 per adult and $5 per child, while Super Splash access is sold separately.
The quarry is open daily until Sunday, August 31, with hours running 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
