Long celebrated for its thriving boating and fishing scene and famously known as the epicenter of Canada’s iconic Friday the 13th motorcycle rally since the 1980s, the town offers plenty of personality.

Surprisingly, the trees thrive in the Ontario summer heat. They make their grand debut in May and stick around until October, before being packed up and moved to a cozy greenhouse to hibernate for the winter.
If you’re planning a summer visit, there’s a few things to keep in mind before you hit the road. Port Dover beach is open daily from dawn until dusk, and is free to the public. There are no lifeguards on duty, so swimming is at your own risk.
As the day winds down, grab a seat on a waterfront patio, order a cold drink, and watch the sunset dip below the horizon through the palm fronds. You’ll completely forget you’re still in Ontario.
