It’s already almost May, which means Cinco de Mayo is just a few days away!
This year, the Mexican holiday falls on Monday May 5, so many will be celebrating this coming weekend – including Toronto’s beloved outdoor shopping destination, The Well.
Happening Saturday, May 3, the fun kicks off at 11 a.m. with music, food, dancing, and even a free Lucha Libre match. Did we mention that it’s completely free to attend?
Visitors can take part in salsa dancing at Wellington Market throughout the day, perfect for both beginners and experienced dancers.
After you’ve worked up an appetite, local taco chain Gus Tacos will be serving up their signature asada, pollo, pastor, and champiñones tacos and Tres Leches Cake at an onsite pop-up for all your Mexican food cravings, running from 4 – 8 p.m.
Of course, you can’t have a proper Cinco de Mayo celebration without margaritas, so you’ll want to make a stop at the Altos Tequila Margarita Lounge.
The main event however is the free Lucha Libre wrestling match in The Court, taking place from 5 – 8 p.m. Again, admission is free and the show is open to all ages!
The full schedule is as follows:
- Altos Margarita Lounge: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Salsa: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Gus Tacos: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Lucha Libre Wrestling: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
