You’ve stood behind the falls, taken the boat, and probably even posed for photos in one of those blue ponchos. However, until you witness 700,000 gallons of water per second cascading over the edge from a helicopter, you haven’t truly experienced Niagara Falls, at least not in its entirety.
Niagara Helicopters has been providing scenic flights for over 60 years, and they have recently enhanced the experience. In late 2025, the company introduced a brand-new fleet of Airbus H130 helicopters, widely considered the global standard for tourism flights. The cabins are more spacious, the panoramic windows are larger, and the ride is noticeably quieter than most people expect.

What The Flight Actually Looks Like
The route spans about 30 kilometres in roughly 12 minutes. After takeoff from Victoria Avenue, you’ll follow the Niagara River gorge from above, passing the Whirlpool Rapids and the Spanish Aero Car. As you near the falls, the American and Bridal Veil Falls come into view first, followed by the sweeping curve of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. It’s the moment most passengers fall silent, as rainbows flicker in and out of the mist.

Every passenger receives a headset with commentary in 12 languages, and the raised, theatre-style seating ensures there’s no bad view. On clear days, you can spot the Toronto skyline to the north and Lake Erie to the south, a perspective that makes it clear how the falls carved through the escarpment over thousands of years.
Flights run daily year-round starting at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Advance booking is not required, and walk-ups are accepted, but reservations are recommended during summer weekends and holidays. The full visit takes about 40 to 50 minutes from arrival to departure, making it easy to pair with a boat cruise or a winery visit afterward.
At $203 CAD per adult, it’s definitely a premium experience. But there’s a reason millions have taken this flight since the 1960s: some sights only make sense from above, and Niagara Falls is one of them.
