Start your engines! North America’s largest elevated go-kart track facility has officially reopened for the 2025 season, and it’s less than a two hour drive from Toronto!
Niagara Speedway, located at the famous Clifton Hill tourist destination, has been coined a “Mario-kart” inspired racetrack, combining traditional throttle powered go-karts with the added thrill of an elevated 2,000-foot-long roller coaster style track.
Reaching a towering four-storey height, the course is is packed with twists, turns, corkscrews, and ramps – much to the delight of thrill-seekers and Mario Kart fans alike.
Racers can select a colourful solo or double seater go-kart, which are powered by a large 4 stroke Honda motor, boasting 9 HP and can reach speeds of up to 32 km/h. Riders will feel like they’re controlling their own rollercoaster, making for an exciting challenge racing against friends.
“Burn rubber and make other go-karts eat dust as you test your driving skills along the straight away, negotiate the hair-pin turns and climb the elevated ramp as you as you revv your engine and head for the checkered flag!” remarks Niagara Falls Tourism.
However, don’t be alarmed, as it’s nothing like Rainbow Road. The Clifton Hill website mentions, “Though riders may feel like they are flying over a cliff at certain points during the ride, extensive safety features were built into the Speedway attraction.”
Tickets for the experience are only available for purchase in person at the park. Pricing is set at $13 per driver for a race, with an additional $4 fee for a passenger to ride along.
The seasonal attraction is now open seven days a week, and you can find their hours here on their website.
While you’re in the area, be sure to check out some of Clifton Hill’s other attractions and entertainment. Take a ride on the Ferris wheel, see your favourite celebrities at the Movieland Wax Museum, or play over 300 games at the Great Canadian Midway.
