One of the province’s most epic corn mazes set against acres of lush apple trees officially reopens for the season this weekend.
For over a century, the Shuh family has been working the land in Waterloo Region, transforming their 50-acre property into one of the area’s most beloved seasonal farm destinations. Located in Elmira, Shuh Orchards combines idyllic rural charm with a slate of family-friendly agritourism experiences.
Watch as the farm transforms each late summer into a autumn playground. Home to more than 62,000 apple trees, the orchard invites visitors to wander through rows of vibrant Gala, Ambrosia, and Honeycrisp apples for their signature Pick Your Own experience. But the real centerpiece of fall fun lies right in the cornfield.
One of the orchard’s main attractions is their iconic corn maze, featuring a winding network of paths designed to challenge and entertain guests of all ages. Whether you choose to race your friends to the exit or take a leisurely stroll through the tall stalks, the maze offers a fun scavenger-hunt element with hidden checkpoints scattered throughout the route to test your navigation skills.
The day out is also packed with plenty of extra seasonal activities. Beyond the maze, your admission unlocks tractor-pulled wagon rides around the picturesque property, access to a charming petting zoo featuring alpacas, goats, and sheep, and a full calendar of weekend live music paired with local food truck bites. Before heading home, you can stop by the farm stand to grab a cup of fresh cider or treat yourself to homemade baked goods.
