Toronto is about to get a whole lot tastier, as “summer’s hottest fiesta” is officially returning to the city this August.
Taco Fest is bringing its Toronto edition to Fort York once again from August 7 to 9. This year’s festival is also set to be the biggest yet, with more than 40 local vendors coming together to serve hundreds of taco creations over three days.
The announcement comes shortly after the festival’s inaugural Mississauga edition, where crowds gathered to celebrate some of the GTA’s top taco makers and crown the city’s very first Best Taco winner.
For Toronto, Taco Fest is bringing together an impressive mix of restaurants, taquerias, caterers, and food vendors, including 6 Spice Rack, Balam, Birria Catrina, Chente’s Taqueria, Dope As Duck, Kong’s Hot Tacos, Narcos Tacos, Rick’s Good Eats, Tino’s Taco House, and so many more.
One vendor in particular is worth keeping an eye on. Inmigrante, which took home the Best Taco title at Taco Fest’s Mississauga debut, will be making its way to Toronto fresh off its big win. Festival-goers will have the chance to try the award-winning quesabirria that earned the taqueria its coveted title.
Besides tacos, there is so much else to explore at Taco Fest. At the Los Cabos Guac School, guests can learn how to make the ultimate homemade guacamole during a chef-led masterclass, while the Jarritos Chill Zone will offer a place to relax with lawn games, photo opportunities, and exclusive Jarritos cocktails.
Those looking to turn up the heat can make their way to the Hot Sauce Bar, where more than 50 varieties from around the world will be available to sample, including a limited-edition Taco Fest sauce created by Piko Peppers.
Tequila lovers can head to the Altos Tequila School for guided classes designed for enthusiasts of all experience levels, while the La Costeña Topping Bar will have everything needed to customize the perfect taco. For those looking to expand their tasting experience, the festival’s Tequila & Mezcal Tastings will offer more than 30 selections, ranging from smooth blancos to smoky mezcals.
Adding to the atmosphere throughout the weekend will be live mariachi performances, salsa dancing, product sampling, and plenty of opportunities to soak up the lively summer energy.
And, of course, the legendary Best Taco Trophy will be up for grabs once again. Throughout the festival, attendees can cast their votes for their favourite taco creation, with the winning vendor crowned at the end of the weekend.
