One of Toronto’s favourite summer traditions is getting ready to keep the good vibes rolling straight into fall.
Following its stint as an official World Cup celebration hub for FIFA Fan Fest, The Bentway is trading soccer cleats for roller skates, bringing back its iconic 220-metre figure-eight Skate Trail for the late summer season. Running from August 7 through September 27, the beloved urban space under the Gardiner Expressway is also packing its seasonal calendar with family activities, creative socials, and a brand-new after-school series.

The Bentway’s iconic Roller Skate Party will kick the season off, co-hosted with BEATS + SKATES and The Melanin Skate Crew. This free opening night features live DJs, skate performances by local legends, live painting, and market vendors. Visitors can even catch a special 2-for-1 skate rental promotion while supplies last.
Whether you’re a seasoned skater or first-timer, you can rent roller skates right on-site. For those looking to build their confidence, weekly beginner-friendly lessons will run every Friday evening throughout August and September.
Besides roller skating, families can look forward to the Dino Run on August 22 and September 19, transforming the space into a prehistoric chase complete with costumed experts, storytelling, and interactive games. Meanwhile, creatives can drop by The Bentway Studio for weekly Art Socials in partnership with Noble Space, featuring guided workshops in collage, watercolour, printmaking, and drawing.

Looking ahead to the cooler months, youth aged 8 to 14 can dive into urban design and city-building with the new Bentway After School program in collaboration with Maximum City, running from September through December.
You can find full programming details and registration links directly on The Bentway’s website.
