When it comes to deciding where to raise a family, top-notch schools, plenty of green space, and a neighbourhood that feels safe are all crucial factors to consider.
However, it turns out that you don’t have to look far, because according to a new study by Compare the Market AU, Toronto has officially cracked the list of the top 50 cities in the world for families, proving that our home is so much more than just a concrete jungle.
The study analyzed 50 global hubs across nine different data points, including safety, things to do with kids, and even national happiness scores. While Brisbane, Australia took the crown this year, Toronto held its own on the world stage, ranking as a solid contender for parents (and parents-to-be) looking for a balanced lifestyle.
One of Toronto’s biggest standout stats? Our safety score, which clocked in at a reassuring 81. Combined with a high national child vaccination rate and access to green spaces, the index finds that the city offers a stable environment for kids to grow up in.
Of course, living in one of the world’s most vibrant cities comes with a price tag. The study noted a monthly cost of living of approximately $4,130 USD for a family of four, equivalent to roughly $5643 CAD.
When it comes to keeping the little ones entertained, Toronto also boasts over 160 dedicated family-friendly activities listed on TripAdvisor, from world-class museums to the iconic CN Tower.
Toronto wasn’t the only Canadian city to make the cut. Our neighbors in Montreal followed closely behind, showing that Canada remains a global heavy-hitter for family life.
