Toronto has some incredible spots to get a drink at, whether you’re looking to grab a pint at a sports bar, enjoy a rooftop cocktail with skyline views, or try a creative beverage in a unique or themed setting.
Now, a new annual ranking of the top 50 bars in North America has just been published for 2024, with THREE Toronto bars making the cut!
North America’s 50 Best Bars, which launched in 2022, celebrates the best of the region’s drink industry.
In order to compile the list, 270 anonymous bar industry experts (including bartenders, bar owners, drinks media, and cocktail connoisseurs) vote on their best bar experiences, with the voting taking place in seven regions: USA Northeast; USA Midwest; USA West; USA South; Canada East; Canada West; Mexico; and the Caribbean.
According to the website, “the list reflects the diversity of the drinking scene in North America. Drawing its strengths from the eclectic tastes of its panel of experts, who possess an undeniable intuition for detecting new trends and talents, North America’s 50 Best Bars is the most authorative and prestigious survey of cocktail tastes in the continent.”
Ranking 21 out of 50, Toronto’s Civil Liberties was the highest of the city’s three bars to make the list, snagging a spot for a third consecutive year. With no set menu, the talented staff here will create a personalized cocktail for you based on your preferences.
Next, Bar Pompette ranked 29th, with the article nodding to its sophisticated look and feel that is reminiscent of French cafés. Serving flavourful modern and classic cocktails, you’re guaranteed to find something super unique here.
Lastly, Bar Mordecai clutched the 40th spot on the list, applauded for its “fun and focused” cocktails and Wes Anderson hotel lobby-inspired design.
As for the top placements on the list, cocktail bars in Mexico City and New York swept all top five spots.
