As a sweltering heat wave settles over Toronto this week pushing temperatures past 40°C with the humidex, the city is offering a perfect way to cool down long after the sun goes down.
To help Torontonians find some much-needed relief during the rare orange alert, select outdoor pools will be open until almost midnight. While all 55 of the city’s outdoor pools are currently open for regular daytime hours, Toronto has officially extended operations until nearly midnight at eight designated locations across the city.
Which pools are open late?
The City of Toronto is keeping eight of its most popular outdoor pools open until 11:45 p.m. throughout the duration of the heat warning. The spots where you can catch a late-night swim include:
- Alex Duff Memorial Pool (779 Crawford St.)
- Giovanni Caboto Pool (1367 St. Clair Ave. W.)
- Heron Park Pool (292 Manse Rd.)
- McGregor Park Pool (2231 Lawrence Ave. E.)
- Monarch Park Pool (115 Felstead Ave.)
- North Toronto Memorial (200 Eglinton Ave.)
- Smithfield Park Pool (175 Mount Olive Dr.)
- Sunnyside Gus Ryder Pool (1755 Lake Shore Blvd. W.)
Plus, don’t miss out on the city’s 170+ splash pads, which will continue running daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., or the 10 supervised swimming beaches open until 7:30 p.m. along the waterfront if you prefer catching a breeze by the lake.
The best part about cooling off at one of these locations? They’re completely free to the public.
But if you’re planning to head out, just remember to check the city’s real-time capacity and service alerts online before you go, as the late-night sessions are bound to be popular.
