If you’re looking to travel to a lesser-frequented destination for a unique, off-the-beaten-path vacation, it’s about to get a whole lot easier for Canadians to explore the enchanting Faroe Islands.
European airline Icelandair is expanding its route to the archipelago within the Kingdom of Denmark, where anyone flying from Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax, or Montreal can take advantage of direct flights from Reykjavik’s Keflavík International Airport to Vágar Airport in the Faroes.
Known for its stunning scenery of the 18 volcanic islands it’s comprised of, the Faroe Islands are an epic destination for hiking, birdwatching, waterfalls, and historic towns.
The islands are also known for having more sheep than people, with a population of only 55,000 people.
Starting May 2024, Icelandair will launch its direct flights to the Faroes from Reykjavik, with between five and six flights a week through October 2024.
Travellers are also able to combine a trip to Iceland at no additional airfare cost with Icelandair.
Tickets from Toronto start at $747, and can already be booked online.
Happy travels, Toronto!
