Toronto’s waterfront is about to get a little hotter this winter.
This December, the city is opening its first-ever floating sauna and cold-plunge facility, bringing a taste of “Finnish heat” to the Canadian cold. With the sauna and cold plunge community in Toronto taking off in recent years, it’s the perfect way to dive in to the full experience.
Löyly Floating Sauna Toronto will transform the lakeside into a cozy, year-round urban escape, created by founders Nick and Jess Rastas. According to their website, the couple designed the sauna from scratch and constructed the primary structure using Canadian goods in British Columbia (where they opened their first location in Kelowna) before shipping it to Toronto.

The name itself is steeped in tradition: Löyly is a Finnish word describing the restorative steam that rises when water hits the hot sauna stones. The entire experience is crafted to foster feelings of calm, clarity, and rejuvenation.
Located at 275 Queens Quay West, Löyly Floating Sauna hopes to open very soon.

“Something new is warming up the Toronto waterfront and we’re excited to share it,” wrote Toronto’s Waterfront Business Improvement Area (BIA) on their Facebook page on November 27. The venture promises to bring “cozy winter relaxation to the water like never before.”
For those eager to be among the first to experience the new floating sauna, an online wait-list has opened on their website, so you can be notified when bookings officially commence for the winter 2025 season.
