One of the most famous beaches in the world is about to get even easier to visit for Toronto travellers.
This winter, Air Transat is introducing a new direct route to Rio de Janeiro, with non-stop service from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Brazil’s famous coastal city just in time to beat the post-holiday blues.
Starting February 4, 2026, the flights will run twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays operating on Airbus A330 aircraft. This marks the first time Air Transat has offered this route, expanding its South American network and giving Torontonians a faster way to reach Rio without layovers.
In a little over ten hours, you can trade the blustery Toronto snow for Rio’s legendary golden beaches, world-class nightlife, granite mountains, and welcoming culture.

The new Toronto to Rio route is part of Air Transat’s 2025-2026 winter program, which features 14 new routes across its Canadian gateways. In addition to Rio, Toronto will also gain new flights to Istanbul, Georgetown in Guyana, and Medellín.
If you’re considering booking a winter getaway, look no further than one of these new Air Transat destinations, which you can already book online.
