A brand-new green space is coming to the Eglinton & Don Mills neighbourhood, and it could be opening as soon as this fall.
If you’ve spotted that larger-than-life bronze bear statue at the corner, we finally know what it’s for. Last week, the City of Toronto posted on their socials that the huge piece of public art is about to become the next-door neighbour to a sprawling 3,120 m2 park, a new oasis in the 24-hectare Crosstown-Eglinton community.

The new destination, currently known as Crosstown Park South, will soon be transformed into a hub for the community. The plans, developed using local feedback, look awesome – a specially designed playground will feature separate junior and senior play structures, slides, a swing set, and several stand-alone play features for kids of all ages.
The main event, however, might be the large amphitheatre built with sloped turf, ready to host community gatherings or just serve as a perfect spot to relax. The design also includes two dedicated seating areas – one complete with a shade structure -and a full network of connected pathways.

This new network is intended to offer easy access for everyone, connecting the park right to Eglinton Avenue and the West Don Trail via Moriyama Drive.
Construction started in the summer of 2024, with the park expected to be completed by fall 2025. While it’s currently called Crosstown Park South, a new official name is expected to be revealed soon.
