With the first day of fall just a week away, Toronto is in for one final blast of late-summer weather – which could even reach record highs!
According to Environment Canada, the city is in for a week of sunshine and daytime highs soaring well above seasonal averages, feeling just shy of 30 degrees by mid-week.
Temperatures in Toronto will reach 24 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday before climbing to 26 on Wednesday, then peaking around 28 on Thursday. Nights will be mild, hovering in the mid-teens.
Historically, the average highs for mid-to-late September based on climate records indicate that Toronto averages around 22 degrees this time of year, with lows near 14 degrees. If Thursday’s forecast high of 28 is reached, it would be just a few degrees shy of Toronto’s September 18 record of 31.1 degrees, set in 1942.
While the weekend forecast looks cooler with 19 degrees predicted on Saturday and 23 on Sunday, it is still expected to be mainly sunny with no rain, with nighttime lows potentially falling to 9 to 10 degrees.
Whether you’re loving the return of summer weather or excited for fall to set in, enjoy the sunshine – based on the Famers Almanac long-term forecast for winter, Ontario’s in for a blustery, snowy season.
