If your New Year’s resolutions for 2026 include trying something new, Toronto has the ultimate way to put that energy into action.
Coming up this Thursday January 1, 2026, hundreds of Torontonians are expected to gather at Woodbine Beach to dive into the new year with the annual Record Breaker Cold Plunge.

This isn’t just your average Polar Bear Dip. Organized by a powerhouse group of wellness communities including Jack.org, Unbounded, Othership, City Shred, Coldture, and Surf the Greats, the goal is simple but bold: make this the largest collective cold plunge Toronto has ever seen while raising funds for youth mental health.
This year’s plunge kicks off at 1 p.m. at Woodbine Beach (1675 Lake Shore Blvd. E.), where participants will come together to do something uncomfortable for a cause that truly matters. Every dollar raised goes directly to Jack.org, a Canadian charity that empowers young people to lead mental health initiatives in their communities.

Organizers describe the experience as equal parts invigorating and empowering. The shock of the cold water, paired with the energy of the crowd, is meant to leave plungers feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to take on whatever 2026 throws their way.
You don’t need to be a seasoned cold-plunge pro to take part. Whether this is your first time stepping into icy lake water or your annual New Year’s tradition, everyone is encouraged to join.

To participate, you’ll need to register in advance via their website . On the day of the plunge, just bring a swimsuit, towel, and a warm change of clothes with you, and consider water shoes, as the shoreline can be rocky.
If the thought of jumping into Lake Ontario in January sounds unbearable just reading this, don’t worry – you can still be part of the moment. Supporters are welcome to attend, fundraise, and cheer on participants from the shore.
Consider this your sign to begin 2026 with courage!
