As temperatures are finally rising in the city, the highly anticipated return of Toronto’s outdoor public pools is just around the corner.
Get ready to lather on the sunscreen as dozens of local swimming spots prepare to open across the city this month. Spanning from Scarborough all the way to Etobicoke, Toronto’s massive network of outdoor pools are getting ready to host free leisure and lane swims for all who need a refreshing cool down.

This year’s season kicks off with an early opening on Saturday, June 13, when 15 popular city pools will debut on a partial schedule running from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. This includes pools like the Alex Duff Memorial Pool at Christie Pits, Riverdale Park East, and the Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool.
By Friday, June 20, the rest of the city’s outdoor pools will officially join the lineup with their own partial hours, remaining open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
If you’re looking for a midday weekday dip, you won’t have to wait much longer, as the entire system transitions to full summer hours on Friday, June 26. From then until September 6, pools will be open daily from 10 a.m. right until 8 p.m.
The best part? Both leisure and lane swims at the outdoor pools are completely free. You can find the full list of participating locations and up-to-date hours on the City of Toronto website.
