Looking to embrace the Canadian winter and get active this season? If you’ve been itching to strap on some skis or a snowboard, you don’t have to go too far!
Right in the heart of North York, you’ll find Toronto’s only remaining ski and snowboard hill, which is gearing up to welcome back the city’s downhill enthusiasts as early as tomorrow.

If conditions are right, Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre is set to officially reopen on Wednesday, January 7, bringing back a beloved local tradition.
Earl Bales will offer a variety of programming for all skill levels. Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned pro, the centre provides everything from introductory lessons to advanced instruction. The grounds feature a dedicated beginner area with a rope tow, a main hill with two distinct runs, and an accessible four-person chairlift that whisks you to a cozy chalet at the summit.
Starting January 7, the main and beginner hills will be open for leisure skiing and snowboarding as of 10 a.m., and is expected to run through March 22 depending on the weather. While the south and race hills remain temporarily closed as the city continues its snow-making efforts, lessons are scheduled to commence on Monday, January 19.

If you don’t own your own equipment, you can rent it directly onsite so long as you have an accompanying Ski Membership or Lift Ticket. Lift tickets are priced from $21.29 to $40.65. You’ll find Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre located at 4169 Bathurst St in North York.
Be sure to check the centre’s official website for real-time updates before heading out, as conditions can impact operations. We’ll see you on the slopes, Toronto!
