Two local culinary hotspots have just been named among the best Italian restaurants in the world.
Rome-based food publication Gambero Rosso just unveiled its prestigious 2026 Top Italian Restaurants Guide, and two of Toronto’s own have secured a coveted spot on the list.
Earning the Tre Forchette (Three Forks) distinction is the highest honour a restaurant can receive from the publication, recognizing the best purveyors of Italian cuisine outside of Italy. For anyone who keeps tabs on the city’s food scene, it might come as little surprise that both Toronto recipients are already highly decorated local favorites.
First to make the exclusive club is DaNico, located in Little Italy. Born from a partnership between the city’s esteemed Liberty Entertainment Group and Michelin-starred chef Daniele Corona, the restaurant has been showered in critical acclaim since it first opened its doors, blending historic architecture with modern culinary art. Pop star Shawn Mendes also recently paid the restaurant a visit, giving it a celebrity stamp of approval.

Joining them in the three-forks club is Don Alfonso 1890, perched on the 38th floor of the Westin Harbour Castle. Famous for its sweeping panoramic views of Lake Ontario and its world-class Amalfi Coast-inspired tasting menu, the stunning destination has solidified its spot on the global stage once again.

Both spots already boast a Michelin star, but this latest international nod from Rome officially cements their status as global elite.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, you can check out the full international rankings and plan your next luxury date night via the Gambero Rosso website.
