The Victoria Day long weekend is coming up, with the statutory holiday falling on Monday, May 18 this year. To welcome the unofficial start to summer, the Toronto sky will once again be illuminated by some of the city’s most dazzling pyrotechnics.
For 2026, there will be two main destinations in and near Toronto to catch Victoria Day fireworks, including a classic lakeside experience and a spectacular show over a mountain. Here are the details:
Ashbridges Bay Park
The city’s main event will take place at Ashbridges Bay on Monday, May 18. This spectacular show features over 2,000 individual shells fired into the night sky, creating a 14-minute masterpiece over the water. The display is completely free to attend and is best viewed from the boardwalk stretching between Coxwell Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.
The show typically kicks off at 10:00 p.m., but you’ll want to arrive early to snag a prime piece of real estate on the sand. Since parking in the area is notoriously tricky and fills up by the early evening, taking the TTC is highly recommended.
Canada’s Wonderland
If you prefer your fireworks with a side of adrenaline, Canada’s Wonderland will be hosting its own explosive celebration on Sunday, May 17. Set against the backdrop of Wonder Mountain, this custom-designed show is choreographed to an original soundtrack and features unique effects you won’t see anywhere else.
The fireworks begin at approximately 10:00 p.m., weather permitting, and are included with the price of park admission. It’s the perfect way to cap off a day of roller coasters and funnel cakes.
If you are planning to host your own small celebration, remember that fireworks are only permitted on private property on Victoria Day itself, and never in city parks or on beaches. For more information, visit the City of Toronto website here. Stay safe, grab a blanket, and enjoy the show!
