One of the best summer activities to enjoy during July in Toronto is the annual return of the lavender fields where you can walk through, take pics, and even bring some home to set out for a dinner party or in the living room. We gathered 4 of our favorites in Ontario for you to spend an afternoon in.
1. Avalon Lavender Field
Tucked away in Mono, Ontario is Avalon Lavender Field that serves as a gorgeous escape right outside the city. A renovated 1881 Heritage Barn has been turned into a store selling handcrafted and local goods you can take home, there’s a river meadow running through the banks, murals, and of course a fragrant lavender field with 30,000 English and French lavender plants.
Tickets cost $17 for farm access where you can cut your own lavender and must be purhcased in advance. At the door, spend an extra $10 for a pair of scissors and a bundle bag to hold the lavender (usually much more than $10 worth.)
Where is Avalon? 347036 Mono Centre Road
2. Terre Bleu
One of the biggest and most Instagrammable of the bunch, Terre Bleu is one you may have heard of. The lavender fields are pruned in the spring to remove any dead herbs and are at their peak until August. Their new farm, Fennario Meadows, is a gorgeous addition to the space where fields are bountiful and used to make many of the lavender products currently for sale here like soap, butter, and food.
Terre Bleu is located at 2501 25th Sideroad Milton
3. Bonnieheath Estate Lavender Farm and Winery
Visit this gorgeous lavender field and winery and feel like you’re in the South of France. Walk through rows and rows of the fragrant herb before heading over to the shop to purchase some of the hand-crafted items they made with the lavender from the fields, then grab a glass of wine from the winery for a perfect and quaint afternoon activity.
