A sweet sign of spring is officially returning to the Greater Toronto Area, bringing a dose of nature and plenty of pancakes to one of the region’s most scenic parks.
For the month of March, the Bronte Creek Provincial Park Maple Syrup Festival is back to transform the Oakville woods into a maple-filled wonderland. A local staple for decades, the festival is a beloved tradition for families looking to shake off the winter blues and embrace the first flow of Ontario’s “liquid gold.”

Step back in time as you wander down Maple Lane, where costumed interpreters in 1890s attire demonstrate the historical ways of collecting and boiling sap. The journey leads you to the historic Spruce Lane Farmhouse, a living history museum that offers a glimpse into turn-of-the-century life.
Visitors can watch demonstrations of fresh maple sugar being made and, of course, enjoy the fan-favourite maple taffy on a stick. Hop on a rustic wagon ride straight to the Pancake House, where you can dig into a stack of fresh, fluffy pancakes and sausages, all drizzled with pure Ontario maple syrup.
After you’ve had your fill, you can visit the resident farm animals or burn off some energy at the family activity centre, which features old-fashioned games and a maple-themed scavenger hunt.

While the festival is a perfect way to spend a crisp March afternoon, it also supports the preservation of the park’s heritage. Guests are encouraged to stop by the Maple Gift Shop to pick up a bottle of syrup or maple treats to take home, which is also a delicious way to support the park’s ongoing programs.
