After months of anticipation and thrill-seekers eagerly awaiting the news, Canada’s Wonderland’s newest and biggest roller coaster, AlpenFury, is officially opening to the public this weekend on Saturday, July 12.
The park’s 18th roller coaster will hold the title as Canada’s tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster, reaching speeds of up to 115 km/h.
The high-speed track delivers a next-level thrill with two powerful launches: one plunging riders into Wonder Mountain and another blasting them out its peak. The coaster boasts nine inversions and introduces three never-before-seen elements: the Fire Serpent Roll, with two near-miss moments and a weightless double inversion; the Skyflyer Loop, a tribute to a former park ride featuring a zero-G stall and inverting descent; and the Ice Winder Roll, which twists and untwists riders through a pair of inversions on an overbanked hill.
The ride can hold a maximum of 18 riders per train, and the experience lasts a total of 1 minute and 20 adrenaline-inducing seconds. For an epic POV of the ride, visit their social media post here!
While the theme park opened up for the summer back on May 8, AlpenFury was still in the process of being assembled, with the final piece of the track being completed in early June. From there, the roller coaster underwent extensive testing before being ready to welcome the public.
Due to the excitement around the ride’s official opening, there will likely be extensive wait times to experience AlpenFury. However, season passholders can gain early access from 9-10 a.m. on select dates before the park opens to the public, so if you’re just dying to try it out, that’s a good option!
Season passes start at $99 and up. Visit their website here to purchase in advance of your visit!
