A local pizza spot is officially serving up the best slices on the planet after a historic sweep at the world’s most prestigious pizza competition.
Pizzéria NO.900 is no stranger to making headlines for their authentic pies, but they’ve just taken things to a whole new level. At this year’s International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas, the group’s Executive Chef, Mirko D’Agata, was crowned the World Champion Pizza Maker, beating out the winners of every single category to claim the ultimate title.

While the competition featured nearly 750 participants from across the globe and a fully blind judging panel, the Montreal-based group dominated the stage. Not only did D’Agata take home the top prize, but teammates Patrice Desmeules and Fiodar Huminski also landed on the podium, securing first and second place in the American Traditional category.
The victory is a massive win for the Canadian pizza scene. D’Agata has even been inducted into the World Pizza Champions, an elite group of only 70 master pizzaiolos worldwide, making him the first Québécois and one of the first Canadians to ever receive the invitation.

Try it in Toronto
If you’re craving a taste of world-champion dough without catching a flight to Vegas or Italy, you’re in luck. Torontonians can head over to the Beaches neighborhood to visit the chain’s first Ontario outpost, which opened its doors last summer at 1987 Queen St E.
The menu stays true to the artisan roots that earned them a spot on the prestigious “50 Top Pizza” global list. You can expect a curated selection of red and white pizzas, all crafted with the same expertise and high-quality ingredients that just floored a panel of blind judges on the international stage.
Whether you’re a Neapolitan purist or just looking for your next favorite dinner spot, it’s officially time to see why this spot is considered the gold standard of the craft.
