Canadian actor and comedian Eugene Levy has racked up the accolades throughout his career, known for his roles in award-winning shows like Schitt’s Creek, and films American Pie and Cheaper By The Dozen.
While he now lives with his wife, producer Deborah Devine, at their home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighbourhood, Eugene was born in Hamilton, Ontario, later moving to Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood.
Eugene recently sat down with the New York Times for an interview with writer Abby Kozolchyk, in which he name-dropped a number of his favourite places to eat in Toronto.
At the top of his list was Terroni’s Bar Centrale location, found at 1095 Yonge Street within the Summerhill neighbourhood. While Terroni is an iconic Italian institution in the city known for their fresh pastas and pizzas, Eugene actually mentioned their morning offerings of pastries and coffee.
He tells Kozolchyk that the croissants are particularly good, and that him and his wife would usually end up at Bar Centrale for a latte and their fine pastries in the mornings. He also commends the staff there for their conversation skills.
Next on the list is their local Rosedale bistro Avant Gout, a Moroccan-influenced French restaurant set within a cozy exposed brick space accented with wood paneling.
On their menu, you’ll find mouth-watering options like Moroccan-spiced Braised Lamb Shank, Veal Limone, a range of pasta options, and more.
