Christmas is just two weeks away, and if you’re searching for a one-stop shop to immerse yourself in the magic of the season, look no further than the Fairmont Royal York.
The historic hotel has been bringing holiday spirit to Toronto for nearly a century, now celebrating its 95th year of festive experiences and cherished traditions.
Once again, The Fairmont has been transformed into an enchanting, cozy escape in the heart of the city, captivating visitors before they even step foot into the lobby with their heartwarming Front Street window displays and decor.
Inside, admire the dazzling lights, larger-than-life nutcrackers, cheery music, and the central towering Christmas tree decorated in vintage-inspired green, silver, and gold accents.
Tucked away within the hotel is where you’ll find a new hidden gem, their House of York pop-up experience, replacing the kitschy Thirsty Elf pop-up of years past.
Located on the Main Mezzanine, the House of York feels like a secluded mountain cabin tucked away from the city’s hustle and bustle. With seating for just 25 guests, this intimate space invites you to unwind in an atmosphere brimming with charm.
More than just a bar, House of York is a more refined space than the previous Thirsty Elf, serving as a perfect getaway for those looking to immerse themselves in holiday cheer.
From the soft glow of greenery-draped décor to vintage, wooden accents and joyous Christmas melodies, every detail has been crafted to evoke the warmth of the season.
The cocktail selection at House of York offers a curated selection of seasonal delights, each with its own unique twist. Highlights include:
- Coconut Snowball: This tropical-inspired cocktail combines Ketel One Vodka, white rum, coconut, lime, and cinnamon, served in a snowball of crushed ice.
- Panettone Negroni: A sophisticated homage to the traditional Italian dessert, this cocktail reimagines the Negroni with rich panettone-inspired flavors, including Tanqueray No. Ten Gin, bitters, molasses, sweet vermouth, and spiced orange.
- Canadian Coffee: My personal favourite, which feels like a warm hug in a cup. Made with Crown Royal, maple, coffee, whipped cream, and nutmeg.
The House of York is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 5 – 10 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required, so pop by for an impromptu evening of holiday magic.
The experience doesn’t have to end there. Pair your visit with dinner at Reign, the Fairmont’s upscale restaurant, or enjoy pre-drinks and appetizers at Clockwork, another brand new holiday experience found within the lobby lounge.
At Clockwork, you can also treat yourself to a decadent Afternoon Tea experience every Saturday or Sunday throughout the season, featuring sweet treats like scones, Choux à la Crème, and a hazelnut Christmas tree, or savoury bites such as turkey tea sandwiches and black truffle quiche.
Whether you’re searching for your next Christmas-themed photo op or creative festive cocktails in a reimagined space, the Fairmont Royal York is where you’ll want to be this holiday season.
