With Christmas less than a month away, holiday decorations are already taking over the city, whether it be at festive pop-ups or cheerful outdoor markets.
If you’re wondering where to find the most Instagrammable tree or simply just looking to embrace the holiday spirit, here are 5 spectacular Christmas trees to check off your list this year.
1. Toronto Eaton Centre
The Toronto Eaton Centre’s Christmas tree is not only decked out from top to bottom in changing lights – it’s also said to be the tallest in all of North America! Standing at 114 feet tall (34.8 metres), the iconic centrepiece of the mall’s atrium is back after a one-year hiatus in 2022 while the glass roof was under repair. This year, the experience also includes the new addition of fake falling snow, transforming the area into a winter wonderland.
2. Distillery Winter Village
Toronto’s beloved Winter Village at the Distillery District has ranked as one of the best Christmas markets in the world, so naturally, its Christmas tree is dressed to impress. This year, the 15 metre tall White Spruce tree sponsored by Dior sparkles with silver and gold decorations and countless twinkling lights. While exploring the village, you can warm up with some aromatic mulled wine or a hot chocolate before catching one of the live performances, or shop local vendors selling gifts, souvenirs, and treats.
3. Fairmont Royal York
As tradition for over 94 years, the Fairmont Royal York has once again outdone itself with its elaborate decorations and dazzling Christmas tree. The historic hotel has no shortage of photo opportunities, including their festive lobby and window display along Front Street. Be sure to check out Gingerbread Way within the East Lobby, constructed with over 8500 real gingerbread bricks, icing, and twelve kinds of candy.
4. City Hall
Head down to City Hall to see Toronto’s official Christmas tree at the 57th annual Cavalcade of Lights. The giant White Spruce Tree stands at 55 feet tall (16.7 metres), and is surrounded by beautiful light installations inspired by holiday festivals and cultures around the globe. You can also lace up and go for a skate on the outdoor rink for free!
5. Casa Loma
Toronto’s most famous castle-style mansion is embracing the holidays with the return of their annual Christmas at the Castle and Holiday Lights experiences. Wander an illuminated trail with seemingly endless sparkling lights, see live performances, and meet Santa and his elves. Casa Loma has multiple Christmas trees to see, including an elaborate 25 foot tall (7.6 metre) Christmas tree within the Great Hall.
