Just in time for March Break, plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures are arriving in Toronto this week, with even more daylight hours thanks to daylight saving time this past weekend.
Much welcome after a blustery and cold February, milder-than-normal temperatures across Ontario begin today.
In the GTA, temperatures will rise to highs of 9 to 12 degrees Celsius, while the Ottawa Valley and eastern Ontario will remain a bit cooler with highs of 5 to 10 degrees.
While the spring-like weather will be briefly interrupted as cooler winds from northern Ontario descend across the province late Tuesday through Wednesday, it will once again climb on Thursday, with Friday expected to be the warmest day, reaching the mid-teens in southwestern Ontario.
With the mild conditions, be cautioned that there’s a possibility of flooding in lakes, rivers, and streams as snowbanks start to melt.
In contrast, Western Canada is being plunged back into winter weather this week, with below-seasonal temperatures and heavy snow in the forecast for B.C. and Alberta.
Southern Ontario could also experience thunderstorms this weekend as warm, moist air collides with a colder air mass.
Is this the last of winter in Toronto? Only time will tell! In the meantime, prepare for some weather whiplash over the coming weeks.
