It’s hard to believe that it’s almost August already, but we still have just under nine weeks left of the summer season to make the most of before fall rolls around.
With back-to-school season around the corner, September is arguably one of the best times to make travel plans after the summer rush and peak pricing begins to cool down.
Luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler just published a list of The Best Places to Travel in September, and our beloved city made the cut among 11 destinations around the world!
The magazine writes that September is “the perfect time to pay a visit to locations that are usually swarming with tourists and enjoy some serious natural beauty, luxury hotels, outdoor adventures, and more than a few glasses of wine”.
The full list is as follows:
- Fiji
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Bali
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Amalfi Coast, Italy
- Braemar, Scotland
- Cappadocia, Turkey
- Nantucket, Massachusetts
- Namibia
- Georgia
- Toronto
When it comes to Toronto, Condé Nast recommends visiting in September primarily because its when the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is in town, taking over the city from September 5 – 15 this year.
“The last of the big three (alongside Cannes and Venice), it tees up the beginning of the award season—buzzy word of mouth here often translates to Oscar gold six months later,” the description reads.
“The festival is headquartered in the custom-designed TIFF Lightbox, an entire city block downtown, and unlike its European rivals, tickets are both affordable and widely available.”
While in town for the festival, the magazine suggests staying at Toronto’s Bisha Hotel, with its “nightlife-driven” atmosphere and rooftop bar, where you can finish the evening off with a glass of champagne overlooking the CN Tower.
This year’s official schedule for TIFF will be released on August 13. A-list actors Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Will Ferrell, Selena Gomez, Elton John, and many more are expected to be in attendance.
