Toronto is not shy about topping best-of rankings, from being one of the coolest cities in North America to the most eye-catching in the world.
Now, a new report which listed 100 of the World’s Best Cities in 2025 has also given our city its flowers.
The global list, published by Resonance Consultancy and Ipsos Research, evaluated over 270 global cities with populations over one million, taking a look at both statistical data and user-generated content from platforms like Google, Tripadvisor, and Instagram.
Analyzing key factors including affordability, education, and overall quality of life, Toronto ranked 15th place, with Vancouver also making the list at 22nd and Montreal at 35th.
The nation’s capital, Ottawa, ranked 52nd, Calgary 54th, and Edmonton 65th.
The study noted that Toronto is a gateway for skilled immigrants, with half the city’s population born outside the country.
Toronto also scored highly for both its tree cover—the proportion of urban land covered by vegetation at least 16 feet tall—and its level of educational attainment.
“Toronto’s skyline is buzzing with development—221 cranes tower above the city, more than four times that of second-place L.A.,” noted the study.
The report highlighted Toronto’s transformation through significant developments, such as the revitalization of Massey Hall and the new Renzo Piano-designed Ontario Court of Justice. Additionally, the introduction of Love Park, featuring a heart-shaped pond, has brought more green space to the city’s downtown core.
Upcoming projects also boosted Toronto’s ranking, such as the Rogers Stadium, set to become the city’s largest outdoor concert venue, and Villiers Island, a key component of the Port Lands Flood Protection Project.
The top 20 cities on the report are as follows:
