One of Toronto’s most celebrated culinary gems may soon be bringing home another international title, further cementing its status as a world-class dining destination.
The Michelin-starred Don Alfonso 1890 is no stranger to recognition, ranked just last month as one of the best Italian restaurants in the world. Now, it has also officially been nominated for ‘North America’s Best Fine Dining Experience’ at the 2026 World Culinary Awards, a new major milestone for the sky-high hotspot.
As one of only two Ontario establishments to make the cut in this prestigious category, Don Alfonso 1890 shares the exclusive shortlist with legendary culinary powerhouses across Canada and the United States, including the likes of Pearl Morissette, Per Se, and Eleven Madison Park.
Located on the 38th floor of the Westin Harbour Castle, the restaurant offers sweeping views of Toronto’s skyline and waterfront. It is the only North American outpost of the acclaimed Don Alfonso 1890 brand, created by Michelin-starred Italian chefs Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino in partnership with Liberty Entertainment Group’s Nick Di Donato.
Since opening, the restaurant has received widespread recognition both in Canada and internationally. Besides being named the Best Italian Restaurant in the World outside of Italy by 50 Top Italy, its accolades also include Best New Restaurant in the World by Gambero Rosso, and one of Canada’s top restaurants by La Liste, OpenTable, Wine Spectator, and Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants.
Inspired by the flavours of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto is known for its modern Mediterranean cuisine, exceptional ingredients, and refined dining experience.
