Now that things are finally starting to feel more like spring in the city, it’s time to get some fresh air and go on an outdoor adventure.
While Niagara Falls might be one of the most popular destinations for Torontonians to go to experience a natural wonder, did you know you could also get up close and personal to its powerful whitewater rapids?
The White Water Walk is a must to add to your list the next time you visit Niagara Falls, bringing you along the edge of the roaring Niagara River.
Extending a quarter-mile long, you’ll get a first-hand lesson in the river’s sheer raw power and peril, as these Class 6 rapids are some of the wildest in North America.
After you descend 70 metres via an elevator, you’ll arrive at the base of the Niagara Gorge and begin your self-guided journey.
Visitors typically spend around an hour exploring the boardwalk, with viewing platforms to stop and take in the scenic rapid views which flow by at a speed of 48 km/hr.
You’ll also learn about the geology, plant, and animal life in the area, including the gorge’s 410-million-year-old rock layers.
The White Water Walk will open for the season this year on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
Tickets cost $19 for adults and $12.50 for kids from 3 – 12 years old, with infants under the age of 2 free of charge.
