Zellers is officially launching its highly anticipated Ontario expansion this week after months of anticipation, and they are celebrating the grand opening with a series of nostalgic surprises designed to bring back all your favourite childhood memories.
The new standalone store will be unveiled this Thursday, June 18th at 80 Orfus Rd in North York, complete with a 25-foot-tall inflatable Zeddy Bear which makes for the perfect photo op for Zellers fans.

The brand is also debuting the Zellers Diner on Wheels, a nostalgic food truck concept inspired by the beloved in-store restaurants of the past. The pop-up diner will be serving up its signature comfort food during opening weekend, meaning you can finally satisfy your cravings with the iconic Big Z Burger, Hot Gravy Chicken Sandwich, chicken fingers, and, of course, classic fries and gravy.
The diner truck will be operating right outside the Orfus Road location from Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, June 21, starting at 10 a.m. on opening day and 11 a.m. throughout the weekend.
To make the opening weekend even sweeter, the store is giving away free Zellers Ice Pops and water bottles while quantities last during the first four days. If you’re planning to head down early, the first 100 customers in line will also score an exclusive, collectible Zeddy keychain that you won’t be able to buy anywhere else.
Parents (and 80s kids) will also be thrilled to hear that the beloved Zellers kiddie rides are making a triumphant return. The brand is reintroducing these attractions at select Canadian locations, starting right here in Toronto with a bright red sports car ride that actually comes to life.
Following the massive success of their standalone Edmonton location last fall, the Orfus Road spot marks the first of a larger Ontario rollout, with a second location slated to open in Windsor’s Tecumseh Mall this July.
Whether you’re looking to snap a selfie with a giant Zeddy Bear, treat yourself to a legendary burger, or introduce a new generation to a Canadian classic, this opening weekend promises to be a trip down memory lane.
