A stunning lakeside retreat that served as the backdrop for TV’s most talked-about romance is officially opening its doors to the public – and it’s just a short trip away from Toronto!
Fans of the hit hockey romance series Heated Rivalry can soon live out their own love story at the now-iconic Barlochan Cottage. Known to viewers as the secluded love nest where Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov shared their most pivotal moments, this architectural gem on the shores of Lake Muskoka is now listed for short-term stays on Airbnb.
Designed by renowned Toronto architect Trevor McIvor, the 2,500-square-foot property is a masterclass in modern Muskoka luxury. The structure features soaring ceilings and massive floor-to-ceiling glass walls that blur the line between the cozy interior and the rugged Canadian Shield.
Inside, guests will find the same Douglas fir beams and central granite fireplace seen on screen, along with three bedrooms that each feature a king bed (which Ilya will be pleased to know), along with a private gym perfect for an off-season workout. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests.
The “cottage” (which, in true Canadian fashion, feels more like a lakeside mansion) sits on the west shore of Lake Muskoka at Walkers Point. It offers 400 feet of private waterfront, a sandy beach, and a spacious patio complete with a firepit and the very BBQ where the show’s stars famously flipped burgers. If you’re lucky, you just might also get to watch the sunset to the calls of the “Stupid Canadian Wolf Birds”.
In a cheeky nod to the show’s protagonists, nightly rates for the initial booking block start at $248.10, which is a tribute to Shane and Ilya’s respective jersey numbers, 24 and 81. For anyone familiar with summer rentals in the area, this is on heck of a bargain.
