When you think of the bluest lakes, you might automatically imagine the glacier-fed lakes in Alberta and British Colombia; however, it turns out the two bluest lakes in the entire world are actually found right here in Ontario.
Ontario is home to some stunningly diverse landscapes, from lush forests to places that feel like they’re on another planet.
It’s also home to over 250,000 lakes, which makes up nearly one fifth of the world’s fresh water.
According to a new study by CanadaCasino, Lake Ontario and Lake Superior are the closest match to YInMn Blue, which is known as the truest shade of blue there is.
Apparently, Lake Ontario measured at 5.32 points off YInMn Blue on the DeltaE scale, and Lake Superior at 7.63 points off YinMn Blue.
Moraine Lake in Banff, Alberta, also took the top third place with 10.34 points off YInMn Blue.
To get these results, CanadaCasino assessed 80 lakes worldwide to compile the ranking.
The top ten bluest lakes based on the study are as follows:
1. Lake Ontario, Canada
2. Lake Superior, Canada / U.S.
3. Moraine Lake, Canada
4. Lake Pehoe, Chile
5. Lac de Sainte-Croix, France
6. Bacalar Lagoon, Mexico
7. Lake Baikal, Russia
8. Lake Victoria, Africa
9. Kenai Lake, Alaska
10. Lake Bled, Slovenia
Time to make the most of the short but sweet summer season and take a dip into Lake Ontario or Superior!
