If you happen to spot a group of naked people riding bicycles through the city this weekend, you’re not having a fever dream – the World Naked Bike Ride is back in town!
The international clothing-optional event happens this Saturday, June 8, where riders will come together before biking down a route along several major streets in the downtown core – and you’re more than welcome to join in if you wish.
Originating in Vancouver, British Columbia, the WNBR now takes place in over 80 cities around the world.
According to the website, the annual ride is a “global protest against the over usage of oil and urban pollution, promoting greater cycling safety on our roads, and encouraging body freedom for everyone.”
While you can go in your birthday suit if you dare, you’re welcome to sport as little or as much clothing as you like. Prior to the event, many riders engage in body painting and bike decorating at the park.
The World Naked Bike Ride has no cost or registration necessary to join. Just show up at Coronation Park between 10 a.m. and noon, as the ride begins at 1 p.m.
The route will take you through downtown Toronto, passing many popular landmarks including Kensington Market, Trinity Bellwood’s Park, University of Toronto, Dundas Square, and more.
For those who don’t have their own bike, the website suggests you cover the seat for safety and sanitation.
